THE COMPANY OF THE CURTAIN

The Company of the Curtain is the local drama group that originated in Water Orton and now performs at Curdworth Village Hall.  This year the Company celebrated their 80th anniversary with the final performance of the year being a play called The Ghost Train.  This play was first performed by the Company in 1937.   All the performances of this latest play were played to full houses, and the Company is very grateful for the local support.   To celebrate the 80th anniversary the Company held a Revue party, including a buffet supper arranged by some of the members, at Curdworth Village Hall. Other members of the Company entertained the rest of us to sketches, a monologue, solo songs and duets.  We also had a performance from ARTS, the stage school based at Curdworth and 3 songs from local solo artiste Isabelle Florence.   This was a wonderful way to celebrate the 80 years of the Company and was made even more special by the attendance of our Guest of Honour Mrs Blanche Hunt, who has been a member of the Company for over 70 years.  She told us that after she saw that first performance in 1937 she decided that she wanted to join the Company, which she did.  She now lives in Somerset but made the journey back to Water Orton with her son Andrew and her daughter-in-law for the special day.  Andrew also sang for us some songs with special meaning to his family.

To keep the Company up to the standard that is expected takes a lot of hard work backstage, on stage and front of house.   If anyone feels that they would like to experience live theatre, either performing or helping with scenery, operating the technical desk for the lighting and sound production, publicity, or being a general dogsbody!!!  you would be very welcome.  For further information please contact the Company via info@companyofthecurtain.com

We are now looking forward to a new year of productions of The Company of the Curtain.  The first play will take place at Curdworth Village Hall, 6th – 10th February 2018.  It will be a play called “A Tomb With A View” which is a comedy concerning the reading of a will.  Tickets will be available nearer the time through the website, www.companyofthecurtain.com or by telephoning the box office on 01675 463095.  We would love to see you all there.
