On 26 September, people living at St Joseph’s Residential Home, Coleshill, were treated to a concert featuring classic hits from stars of stage and screen.
The Sweethearts and Legends show was performed by Victoria of Wishing Well Productions and was organised by Fairway Homecare, who supply support staff at the Father Hudson’s run home.
People gathered in St Joseph’s social room, dreaming little dreams of days gone by as Victoria performed songs by Doris Day, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland and Elvis Presley and many more. The gentlemen were encouraged to serenade the women with a rendition of Pretty Woman, and the women returned the favour singing along to My Guy.
In between songs, Victoria shared fascinating titbits of information about the artists’ lives and got the audience to guess who was coming next by providing teasing clues about the next singer.
Many people got involved, singing along to their favourite songs, and some people even had a dance in their seats. One resident said, “I thought the show was lovely and I really enjoyed hearing all the hits.”
Scott O’Neill of Fairway Homecare said, “When we work with clients over long periods, we want to give something back. This is our way of saying thank you, and hopefully it’s enjoyable for the residents.”
As staff and residents sang along and danced to the marvellous performance, it seems safe to say that it was definitely enjoyed by all.
