Wasps today confirm that Alapati Leiua will join Bristol Rugby next season.
The Samoan centre, who has 11 caps for his country, joined Wasps during the 2014/15 campaign, scoring four tries in his 16 appearances for the club in his first season.
Leiua’s game-time was limited last season due to two ACL reconstructions. He made his comeback in October and has gone on to make 10 appearances for Wasps this season.
Wasps’ Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “Alapati has worked hard to battle back from two serious knee injuries and we are delighted to see him back fit and playing. He still has a big part to play for Wasps for the remainder of the season and we will all wish him well when he joins Bristol Rugby next season, where I’m sure he will do a good job.”
Alapati Leiua said: “I have really enjoyed my three seasons at Wasps and would like to thank the players, coaches and medical team for the support and backing they have given me during my rehab to help me return from long-term injury.
“I’m loving playing again, alongside really talented players. I’m looking forward to doing my best for Wasps for the rest of the season and to seeing what we can achieve together as a squad. It was a really tough decision to make to move on, but I am keen to increase my opportunities for game-time and am excited about the new challenge with Bristol next season.”
